Cherokee Artists Gallery Bud Breen
(Above Photo) This beautiful painting by Bud Breen exhibits the differnces between Cherokees & Comanches. His attention to detail is almost psychic. Here we have the Comanches showing Sequoyah & his Cherokees a crossing on the Rio Grande north of Eagle Pass. After arrest by US authorities, it was at this very crossing that Sequoyah escaped. Bud rode this section of river forover 30 years. The landscape is identical with reality.
(Above Photo) Three generations of Cherokees. On the left is Mary Layton, the matriarch of the Cherokee Nationn of Mexico. In the center is her grandmother, Mary Price, who died in 1892. On the right is her grandson, Charles Rogers. Bud’s painting brings this family togeather on canvas in the same way that it exists in our hearts.
(Above Photo) Cherokee Chief Charles Jahtlohi Rogers & Cherokee brave Clay Spirit Walker Garrett bring back an authentic battle flag from the 1910 Mexican Revolution. Coahuila Governor Enrique Martinez y Martinez leads the Cherokees into the heart of 8000 mounted Mexicans for the ceremony of the flags return to Mexico by the Cherokee Nation of Mexico. Bud captures in the clouds of this painting the spirit of the eagle that was present that day. By his painting, Bud captured this actual event.
(Above Photo) Bud captures this western Cherokee family on their farm in Indian territory. The memory of those last in the Trail of Tears can be seen inthe clouds above this Cherokee farm. Any Cherokee can still see these valient souls as they struggled to survive. Just look in your heart.
